ADD

July 13, Jane gets tested for ADD. We've had some concerns with her attention span. She struggles focusing and cannot seem to stay on task.

I am very slow to medicate my children but she obviously hasn't improved with maturity. So it's time to test her. Her English teacher suggested possible small seizures because she actually fades out in class and has to be snapped back into attention but we have to eliminate ADD (or confirm) so we can really figure out what's going on with Jane.

I would feel horrible if there was *waving hands vaguely* something, we could do to help her and didn't.

Our family doctor was wonderful. He talked to Jane directly, asked her questions, compared having something like ADD, to seeing the world without glasses if you indeed needed glasses and just not knowing any different. He was fabulous, making sure Jane realized that testing wasn't a negative thing, if there was something that could be done that could help in daily life.

It'll be a good month before we know anything and I can't even speculate what answers, positive or negative from her appointment. Hopefully if there is a way to help her, we'll have a direction to go in.
