I just signed the consent. Here's the testing that will be performed. Just a note, this in important because it decides what help she is qualified to receive from the special ed department (commonly called the resource room).
1. Intellectual/Cognitive Functioning. This will assess her ability to learn. Typically something she's struggled with in the past.
2. Academic Performance. This measures her achievements in areas such as oral expression, listening comprehension, written expression, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, mathmatics calculation and mathematical reasoning.
3. Classroom Observation. Collects information on how she performs in a classroom environment. This includes social/emotiona as well as acdemic performance.
4. Communication (speech, language) Speech assesses Jane's articulation, voice, vluency and motor skills. Language assesses Jane's receptive and expressive language skills including phonology, morphlogy, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Please note that at this time (from the casual observation of her mother) Jane struggles with language far more then speech.
5. Auditory processing. Assesses Jane's ability to use auditory skills. I requested this testing on the advice of the boys speech therapist.
We'll see what happens with the testing.
